With my background studying architecture at university (well Part 1 anyway) and a keen interest and enjoyment in building using timber i decided the most sustainable and enjoyable method of construction would be to use a nebraska style load-bearing starwbale system with a timber floor grid sat on a number of rammed earth tyre foundations.
One of the main reasons behind choosing to build this way was an overwhelming sense to get to grips with a construction method that had been drummed into me throughout university by people on a sustainable construction kick who had little or no practical experience in this method of construction telling me certain construction details would/wouldn't work, when honestly speaking i don't think they had the foggiest idea!
